Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a procedure that produces a superficial ablation of the outermost layers of the epidermis. The result is the removal of dead, dull, and sun-damaged skin cells.

Microdermabrasion utilizes a high-pressure stream of crystals that gently abrade the skin while a vacuum removes both the crystals and the exfoliated skin from the treatment area. The depth of the treatment depends on the force of the flow of crystals and the number of passes that are performed over the treatment area.

This procedure only produces a superficial tissue injury, which means it only improves superficial skin defects and skin texture. This fact, however, is also an advantage as it results in a rapid recovery, minimal discomfort, and little to no downtime.

Microdermabrasion can be combined with glycolic acid peels to enhance the effects of the peel. By removing dry, damaged skin cells, microdermabrasion also allows your current skin care regimen of moisturizers, sunscreen, and anti-aging products to work more effectively.
